Good Afternoon, As we embark on the second half of the school year students are feeling motivated to want to do their best. With mid year assessments wrapped up, students had a chance to reflect on where they are at, and then discussed what are things they can do everyday to help themselves continue to grow in their learning. The concepts they are learning in math, reading, etc. are challenging them to push beyond some of their comfort zones to do more. I'm excited to see each one of them as they strive to achieve their goals, and watch they continued growth this second half of the school year.  Week in Review:  Leader in Me: Our class talked about using courage and consideration to Think Win-Win. Ask your child, “Why are both courage and consideration important to Think Win-Win?” Writing: Writers spent this past week planning out their second informational books which the topics they are writing about are the extreme weather and natural disasters they have been doing research...

 Good Afternoon, As the students were leaving today it is hard to believe that the school year is halfway over. At this time of the school year it's important to reflect on the growth that has been made by everyone up to this point. In the learning journey and process, I feel its important to understand everyone learns at their own 'race'. Don't gauge the growth on where others are at, but where is the individual student in their own learning journey and process. Every student needs to run their own 'race' in the learning process because everyone matures, grows, and learns at different paces. As the students advocates for learning needing to make sure we celebrate the growth throughout, but also where they are at now is critical to ensuring they stay motivated and have the confidence to want to continue to grow.  Good Evening,      Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend as we head into a special week here at NDLC. It's a celebration of all things that makes NDLC a place that we all love, and are proud to be a part of as a school. The kids and families are a big part of what makes this place special, so my hope is this week everyone can have great Husky Pride and enjoy the various activities and dress up days we have planned. Week in Review:  Leader in Me: We are focusing on habit 4 this month which all about think win-win. Our class talked about when "no deal" is the best option. Ask your child, "What does no deal mean?" Writing: Writers are working hard on elaborating in their informational books, and making sure each chapter is teaching exactly what they would want to have if they were reading their books. Writers are putting an emphasis on structure in each of their chapters which correlates to the work they are doing in reading trying to identify those structures. M...

Good Afternoon, As we welcome in a brand new year, I hope everyone was able to enjoy time off with the ones closest to them as well as recharge as we embark on a new year filled with lots of excitement. A new year can have a lot of different meanings for a lot of people, but one thing I look forward too is seeing the excitement on all of the student's faces when they return. They are excited to share lots of things, but most importantly they are just excited to see each other again which is what it is all about. I'm excited to continue to pick up where we left off, and make the most out of every single day we have together this new year! Good Afternoon,      Although we did not have our official Holiday party because of our Snow Day, I hope everyone is able to enjoy a day at home in PJ's as we get a little head start on our winter break. Wishing everyone safe travels and that you are able to find comfort this winter break that is spent with the people closest to us all! I had gifts for students prepared for tomorrow that I will make sure they still receive, but it will just have to wait just a little bit longer than anticipated.  Good Afternoon,     Hope everyone is hanging in there as it appears a sickness bug has been going through our class. It's never fun when that happens, but we will hang in there together and persevere through. With that being said, the 4th graders have continued to stay motivated, push themselves and each other daily to do their very best even when they may not be feeling the best. I'm hopeful everyone is able to find some time to rest and recharge as we head into the final week of school in the year of 2022. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  Our class talked about setting goals around our most important roles. Ask your child, “What goals do you have for your roles?” Writing: Writers began their informational writing unit this week. We have applied some of the same strategies from our first writing unit in narrative by taking each page, and planning that page out filling it with sketches as details that fits for that particular chapter to help our organization.  Good Evening,     This past week students were able to participate in some different service projects, and I'll always remember this quote from a student who said, "Giving to people in need always makes me feel better than receiving gifts, I don't know why but it does." Those are the type of kids we have at NDLC, and I am reminded daily how lucky I am to be able to teach each and everyone of them. I look forward to these final two weeks of school with them in 2022 making some more memories, and learning and growing along the way.
