.Final 2 Weeks of 2022

 Good Evening,

This past week students were able to participate in some different service projects, and I'll always remember this quote from a student who said, "Giving to people in need always makes me feel better than receiving gifts, I don't know why but it does." Those are the type of kids we have at NDLC, and I am reminded daily how lucky I am to be able to teach each and everyone of them. I look forward to these final two weeks of school with them in 2022 making some more memories, and learning and growing along the way.

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: Our class talked about the importance of prioritizing. Ask your child, “What does it mean to prioritize?”

Writing: Writers finished their persuasive essays, and worked on revising and editing to make sure their writing was as persuasive as possible. To ensure this, they looked at the evidence they had for each reason, and worked with their writing partners to see if they could revise to make their writing as convincing as it could be.

Math: Students have been working hard daily on trying to build confidence in the new concept of long division, and have been determining which strategy works best for them. It has been a true collaborative learning environment with all students working together to ensure everyone is confident in their division problem solving skills!

Reading: Readers finished their detail and synthesis unit with an emphasis on character and theme work with post assessments. Students were able to "level up" on their WIG scoreboards which a lot of them were able to meet their goals! It was great to see the amount of growth, and their daily efforts paying off by seeing themselves reach their WIGs!

Content: Students were learning about the connection between sounds and vibration with a guiding question of, "How far can a whisper travel?"

A Look Ahead:

  • Family Night: PJs and Publishing - Thursday, December 15th 5:30 – 6:30pm
  • No School December 26th-January 2nd
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Looking forward to another great week!

Mr. VW
