Have a Wonderful Winter Break

Good Afternoon,

Although we did not have our official Holiday party because of our Snow Day, I hope everyone is able to enjoy a day at home in PJ's as we get a little head start on our winter break. Wishing everyone safe travels and that you are able to find comfort this winter break that is spent with the people closest to us all! I had gifts for students prepared for tomorrow that I will make sure they still receive, but it will just have to wait just a little bit longer than anticipated. Again, hope everyone enjoys the extended break, and looking forward to picking up where we left off in the year 2023!!

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: Our class talked about the leadership skill of organization. Ask your child, “Which organizational strategies work best for you?”

Writing: Writers were finishing their informational books to get reading for publication. We have experts on a wide range of topics, and writers worked on being precise with the details in their books so that the reader has a clear understanding of their topic.

Math: Mathematicians began their unit assessment on division concepts today, and they are off to a great start! We will do a quick review after break, and pick up where we left off on their assessments then!

Reading: Readers have been working on how to go deeper into their nonfiction reading. With an emphasis on determining the main idea in their texts, readers are paying attention to intros, text features, repeating words and images as strategies to help them determine the main idea that we will continue to work on!

Content: Students discovered that sound is a wave. In the activity, students drew the waves that different sounds make using a virtual oscilloscope, a machine that shows images of sound waves. Then they vibrated a rope to make waves that look like the ones made by the oscilloscope.

A Look Ahead:
  • No School December 23rd - SNOW DAY
  • No School December 26th - January 2nd - Winter Break

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and healthy Winter Break!

Mr. VW
