Happy New Year!

Good Afternoon,

As we welcome in a brand new year, I hope everyone was able to enjoy time off with the ones closest to them as well as recharge as we embark on a new year filled with lots of excitement. A new year can have a lot of different meanings for a lot of people, but one thing I look forward too is seeing the excitement on all of the student's faces when they return. They are excited to share lots of things, but most importantly they are just excited to see each other again which is what it is all about. I'm excited to continue to pick up where we left off, and make the most out of every single day we have together this new year!

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: Our class spent this week reviewing expectations in all locations in our school. Whether that be the bathroom, hallway, cafeteria, or recess their are expectations for us all to know what it should look like, sound like, and feel like. I'm excited to see the students flourish in these expectations to be leaders in the school modeling the way!

Writing: Writers chose a topic of their choice for their new informational book. This week they worked on planning on how each chapter will go as well as planning for how they want each chapter will be structured differently. They will begin drafting these books out next week!

Math: Before break we had planned to have our math unit finished up, but with the snow day as well as so many out because of sickness we had to finish up our division unit this week. Everyone completed their assessments, and did an awesome job! Lots to be proud of with how well they grew this past unit.

Reading: Readers began our new unit focused around nonfiction reading, but with a focus now on weather. Readers will become experts on various extreme weather storms in this unit while also building up their nonfiction reading skills!

A Look Ahead:
  • i-Ready Winter Testing Tuesday, January 10th and Wednesday January 11th
  • Monday, January 9th - Wear BLUE
  • Monday, January 16th MLK Day - No school
  • January 17th-20th - Celebrate NDLC Week

That's all for this week!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. VW
