The End of March

Image
Good Afternoon, Today we had our annual Egg Crack Off here at NDLC, and it was another memorable day where you looked at the students and could feel good because you know they just genuinely felt happy. As we head into our final two months of school my goal is to have more of those days for all kids where they are at school, and just feel, happy. I hope everyone enjoys a couple of days off here, and that you are able to spend it with people in your life that bring you some of the most happiness. The kids deserve this break, and I hope they find that time to sharpen their saw. Week in Review: Leader in Me: Leaders were on display throughout this week whether it was down in Madison, or at our whole school Egg Crack Off today. This time of year seeing the 4th graders, and the maturity and leadership that they demonstrate daily is always impressive to notice, recognizing all the growth they have made throughout the course of the year. Writing:  Writers were able to work on some indepen...

Marching Forward

Good Afternoon, It certainly was a busy week with the beginning of Forward testing as well as conferences, but it made for an exciting experience for everyone. Once the students get started on to their testing it is amazing to see some of their nerves go away because they realize the hard work they put in all year is paying off because they are ready and prepared for what they are being asked to do. With that being said, seeing the students take the lead during conferences offered them an opportunity to showcase their learning, and hear things from their perspective which I thought was such a awesome experience for them to step into that leadership role.  Week in Review: Leader in Me: Leaders did such an amazing job leading conferences, and sharing their leadership binders. I know it was a different way of doing conferences, but the pride on their faces was evident. They were able to take on a leadership role in their learning, and it was a great couple of nights seeing them in thi...

Halftime of March

Good Afternoon, As we wrap up our Knowledge-A-Thon week, it's always a great reminder of how special NDLC is for so many reasons. One of them being the families and students that CHOOSE NDLC every year, and the support that we get for fundraising during KAT is incredible and I can't say thank you enough on behalf of all staff here. The theme this year was Superheroes, and I thought it was fitting because that is what every kid that comes through NDLC is in my eyes because they are all special and unique in their own way. I'm proud to be able to teach here at NDLC, and hope you have the same feeling of pride of having your child attend what is arguably the best of the best for elementary schools in the state! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week students freshened up, and rehearsed for their student led conferences next week. It is awesome to see them take ownership of their leadership binders, and what they want to share at conferences. They have been working hard all y...

Marching Into Another Week

Image
Good Afternoon, As we head into our final week of test prep, I have been very pleased with all of the 4th graders work ethics and focus during this unit. It has be a unit that can be demanding at times, stressful, but at the end of it they will hopefully feel less anxiety and pressure heading into the Forward exam because of all the practice and effort they are putting in right now. I look forward to them all being able to showcase their knowledge on the Forward exams in the coming month. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week we learned about how to balance the consideration of others’ thoughts and feelings with the courage to express our own thoughts and feelings. View this resource: Win-Win Agreement and work together to create a win-win agreement for a situation where you have a common disagreement at home. Writing:  Writers worked this week to understand what the prompt is asking them to do, and then ensuring they are writing in the correct genre of writing whether it...

Hello March!

Good Afternoon, As we turn the page on another month of the school year, my hope is to make the final months here everything and more for all students and families. I greatly appreciate the trust you put into me as your child's teacher, and I want to make sure if there is anything more you want from me in these final few months please do not hesitate to reach out and ask. It has been a great group of students to be around daily that have really grown in so many ways, and I am so proud of them all. I look forward to continuing to strive to be our best version of ourselves everyday with them these final few months. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week we learned about Habit 4: Think Win-Win and how to use this type of thinking to build good relationships. We have also learned how to make Win-Win Agreements! Together, view this resource: Everyone Can Win to learn more about win-win thinking. Writing:  Writers worked this week to understand what the prompt is asking them t...
