Good Afternoon, What a wonderful start to the school year it has been! It has been such a joy with this group of 4th graders, and I can not say thank you enough to all the families for your trust and support of me as their teacher. I hope everyone is able to spend time with the people who are most important to them over this Holiday break as I know this time of year can bring lots of emotions. Wishing all of you joy and happiness, and I am looking forward to continuing this great school year in 2024! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  We focused on staying true to our personal mission statements and making choices that align with who we want to be. Work together to list all of the celebrations and successes everyone has achieved so far this year.  Plan a celebration for all to enjoy. Good Afternoon, It's hard to believe we are heading towards our last week of school in the year 2023 next week. I believe it is important to press pause on the busyness of life, and reflect on all that has changed. This group of kids have been awesome to get to know this school year, and I hope as families you are able to recognize the hard work they put in every day while noticing the growth they have made this past calendar year. I know in the 4 short months I have spent with them their are lots of celebrations and growth, and I look forward to ending the 2023 calendar school year on a high note next week. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  We worked on writing personal mission statements by identifying personal values and things that matter most to them! Invite your learner to teach you how to write your own personal mission statement.  Consider sharing it with your learner!  Writing:  Writers worked on their new literary essays that focused in on the theme and lesson...

Fun Filled Week!

Good Afternoon, It is always special when families are able to come into school, and see the amazing work kids are doing every single day. Today was special, and I appreciate everyone who came to experience the work that happens daily. I know the students were beaming with pride to show off the reading work that they do, and today was one of those days that made me feel proud to be a NDLC Husky! It was a great week, and today was the cap an another awesome week here in 4th Grade at NDLC. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  Our class has been talking about the impact of proactive and reactive responses to situations. Brainstorm a list of proactive phrases that can be used by everyone at home! Writing:  Writers worked on selecting just right evidence to support their thesis for literary essays. They then put it all together in their initial drafts of their writing. We talked about how we need to search for deeper meanings, and lessons in stories to lift the level of our thesis in our...

Hello December!

Good Afternoon, It's hard to believe we have turned the page on another month of the calendar as we head into the final month of 2023. These first three months of the school year have been filled with highs and lows, days of growth, celebrations, and everything else in between. I'm excited for these next few weeks to finish this month off strong as the students returned this week rested, and ready to grow as learners and leaders. I appreciate everyone's contributions and support as we continue every day here to make it the greatest days in the history of days! Week in Review: Leader in Me:  This week we discussed  the leadership skill of giving compliments and how genuinely noticing the contributions of others can be an Emotional Bank Account deposit. As a family, take turns giving each other compliments. Discuss how you all can notice and give compliments frequently! Writing:  Writers began a new writing unit focusing on writing literary essays. They began the week choos...
