Happy Holidays!
Good Afternoon,
What a wonderful start to the school year it has been! It has been such a joy with this group of 4th graders, and I can not say thank you enough to all the families for your trust and support of me as their teacher. I hope everyone is able to spend time with the people who are most important to them over this Holiday break as I know this time of year can bring lots of emotions. Wishing all of you joy and happiness, and I am looking forward to continuing this great school year in 2024!
Week in Review:
Leader in Me: We focused on staying true to our personal mission statements and making choices that align with who we want to be. Work together to list all of the celebrations and successes everyone has achieved so far this year. Plan a celebration for all to enjoy. Some examples include a walk in the neighborhood/local park, watching a favorite show/movie, cooking a new recipe.
Writing: Writers put their writing to typing, and practiced typing up the various essays they have completed the previous units. We emphasized editing, and making sure that when they are typing to also include all the organization and structure they use when they are writing.
Math: Mathematicians put their knowledge on display during their unit assessment on fractions and decimals, and the growth was tremendous. Every student was in the 'green', and the room was beaming with excitement and pride for all math partnerships.
Reading: Readers developed a reading plan for themselves over the break in order to maintain the great growth they have made the first four months of the school year. I have been so impressed with the volume and stamina the students have been displaying on top of all the thinking work they are doing daily.
Content: Researchers concluded their Colonial America unit, and learned about some important people and events that led up to the American Revolution!
A Look Ahead:
- December 25 - January 1st No School (Students return 1/2/24)
- January 15th - No School
- January 18th - Funset Night
- January 19th - 11:30 Dismissal
That's all for this week!
Have a great winter break, and Happy New Year!
Mr. VW
