Have a Wonderful Winter Break

Image
Good Afternoon,      Although we did not have our official Holiday party because of our Snow Day, I hope everyone is able to enjoy a day at home in PJ's as we get a little head start on our winter break. Wishing everyone safe travels and that you are able to find comfort this winter break that is spent with the people closest to us all! I had gifts for students prepared for tomorrow that I will make sure they still receive, but it will just have to wait just a little bit longer than anticipated. Again, hope everyone enjoys the extended break, and looking forward to picking up where we left off in the year 2023!! Week in Review:  Leader in Me: Our class talked about the leadership skill of organization. Ask your child, “Which organizational strategies work best for you?” Writing: Writers were finishing their informational books to get reading for publication. We have experts on a wide range of topics, and writers worked on being precise with the details in their books so that the re

Good Afternoon,     Hope everyone is hanging in there as it appears a sickness bug has been going through our class. It's never fun when that happens, but we will hang in there together and persevere through. With that being said, the 4th graders have continued to stay motivated, push themselves and each other daily to do their very best even when they may not be feeling the best. I'm hopeful everyone is able to find some time to rest and recharge as we head into the final week of school in the year of 2022. Ask your child, “What goals do you have for your roles?” Writing: Writers began their informational writing unit this week. We have applied some of the same strategies from our first writing unit in narrative by taking each page, and planning that page out filling it with sketches as details that fits for that particular chapter to help our organization. This is always one

Good Evening,     This past week students were able to participate in some different service projects, and I'll always remember this quote from a student who said, "Giving to people in need always makes me feel better than receiving gifts, I don't know why but it does." Those are the type of kids we have at NDLC, and I am reminded daily how lucky I am to be able to teach each and everyone of them. I look forward to these final two weeks of school with them in 2022 making some more memories, and learning and growing along the way. Week in Review:  Leader in Me:  Our class talked about the importance of prioritizing. Ask your child, “What does it mean to prioritize?” Writing: Writers finished their persuasive essays, and worked on revising and editing to make sure their writing was as persuasive as possible. To ensure this, they looked at the evidence they had for each reason, and worked with their writing partners to see if they could revise to make their writing as c

Good Afternoon,     As we welcome in another month of the school year, and are 1/3 of the way through this school year already it's worth mentioning just how much growth everyone has made since September. The students have been working extremely hard daily, and the group as a whole have been trying to live up to the mission statement they created all the way back at the beginning of the year. They wrote a statement that focused around the ideas of honesty, kindness, inclusion, respectful, and lastly to have fun. That's what school should ultimately be about as we want every student to have those pillars instilled in them, and to have fun daily while learning and growing. I'd say this group of 4th graders have done an excellent job living up to that mission statement they wrote to start their learning journey this school year. Week in Review: Leader in Me:  Our class talked about how saying no to less important things allows us to say yes to our most important things. Ask y
