Last Full Week in the Books!

 Good Afternoon,

Hard to believe the last full week of school has already passed. It's been quite an amazing year with so much to celebrate! I look forward to making each of these last days count, and making each 4th grader happy that they can call themselves NDLC Huskies when they finish! Hope everyone enjoys the beautiful weather this weekend!

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: This week, we learned about 3rd Alternatives. A 3rd Alternative is a win-win solution that works for both parties. Combining strengths and being open to new ideas allow us to create better ideas called 3rd Alternatives. Watch the Landfill Harmonic video on Leader in Me Online and discuss these questions:

  • Where did you see examples of synergy?
  • Do you agree or disagree with this statement: Without synergy, there would be no Landfill Harmonic.

Writing: Writers are finishing up their 2nd graphic novels, and are working on some final revisions and edits before bringing that work home!

Math: Mathematicians showed their knowledge in their math i-Ready as well as reviewing some concepts related to decimals and fractions for tenths and hundredths.

Reading: Readers are finishing up their historical fiction units with a post assessment as well as having their reading i-Ready this past week! Lots of growth and celebrations to be proud of!

Content: Students began their preparations for leading the mini course of their choosing! It is always great to see the 4th graders take on this leadership role!

A Look Ahead:

  • May 22nd - 4th Grade Concert
  • May 23rd- 4th Grade Walk To Library & Picnic at Horseshoe Park at 12:30
    • Thank you in advance for your help! This picnic will take place after our library field trip on Thursday, May 23rd. Parents are invited to join our picnic. We currently have about 110 people who have RSVPed that they are coming (including students). If you signed up to bring something off of the Sign Up Genius sent out earlier in the week, if you could just bring that with you when you arrive to Horseshoe Park that would be greatly appreciated!
  • May 24th - Early Dismissal
    • This day will also be a cleaning day in our classroom so if you could send your child with a large bag or paper bags to send home materials in that would be greatly appreciated!
  • May 27th - No School
  • May 29th - Last Day of School

That's all for this week!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. VW
