Days Keep Going By

Good Afternoon,

We are somehow entering into our final week of April with the final days of the 2022-2023 school year just around the corner. Finding myself wishing time could stop right in its tracks at times because the end of the school year in 4th Grade means the beginning of change for our 4th Graders. The students have been resilient, and determined as their testing for the Wisconsin Forward is coming to an end as well next week. We will continue to strive to be our best self daily, grow everyday, and make the most out of every single day we have to end the year strong!

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: This week we learned about the importance of prioritizing. Your learner focused on what it means to prioritize things that are important and urgent. Watch this video together and discuss what you learned about the important and urgent.

Writing: Writers worked on character development in their realistic fiction writing. We discussed strategies on how to create believable characters in our writing as well as giving our characters clear motivations and struggles in their writing. 

Math: Students were able to display their knowledge in the math sessions of the Wisconsin forward this week. It was being able to put all of their learning in math throughout the year to the test, and they felt like they were able to tackle the problems that were given to them!

Reading: Readers have been diving into their historical fiction books, and have been doing some high level thinking work to go with their reading. Readers have been thinking across timelines of both the history side and character side, while understanding that the characters perspectives will be shaped by the roles they have and the world going on around them. 

Content: We began our final science unit which is all about energy. Students learned that we use the energy from food to make our bodies move just like cars use the energy from gasoline to move. We also explored how energy can be stored as height. 

A Look Ahead: 

  • April 24-28th - Last week of Forward testing!
  • Wednesday, May 24th - 4th Grade Concert 
  • Dates coming soon on upcoming end of year field trips!
  • Friday, May 26th - Early Dismissal
  • Monday, May 29th - No School

Good Afternoon, This week the students finished up yet another round of forward testing with just the math sessions remaining next week. I have been proud of their continued efforts as testing can take a lot of time and energy, but remaining consistent with their effort is imperative. For them, finding the motivation to continue to be their best self, being kind, safe, and respectful as we head towards the end of the school year because as the weather gets better it can get harder to want to keep that energy high in the classroom as well. Last Full Week in the Books!

 Good Afternoon, Hard to believe the last full week of school has already passed. It's been quite an amazing year with so much to celebrate! I look forward to making each of these last days count, and making each 4th grader happy that they can call themselves NDLC Huskies when they finish! Hello March!

Good Afternoon, As we turn the page on another month of the school year, my hope is to make the final months here everything and more for all students and families. I greatly appreciate the trust you put into me as your child's teacher, and I want to make sure if there is anything more you want from me in these final few months please do not hesitate to reach out and ask. It has been a great group of students to be around daily that have really grown in so many ways, and I am so proud of them all.
