KAT Week Straight Ahead

Good Morning,

It was an interesting week that the weather through at us all, but the kids were very productive today that I was very pleased to see after the last two days. We talked about how where we are at in the school year with March looming, that if we know more we need to do more so continuing everyday to push ourselves to our full potential. Next week will be a busy week with various activities going on, and it doesn't seem to slow down after that so making sure we continue to come with a positive attitude everyday, and staying healthy will be great aspects for us to finish the school year strong!

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: Our class learned about honesty. Ask your child, “What are the benefits of being honest with yourself and others?”

Writing: Writers worked on developing a thesis that felt strongly about after reading their short stories, and then worked to identify the exact text evidence they wanted to use to help frame their persuasive essays to get them ready to draft on Monday!

Math: Mathematicians had a quick quiz which focused on triangles and angles, and then today we began to explore the concepts of parallel and perpendicular lines! We are working on understanding these new vocabulary terms, and being able to talk about them with our math partners to help solidify our learning.

Reading: Readers were continuing to look for power in the books they are reading, and noticing it as well in their own lives. Today we shifted our thinking to perspective, and understanding the lived experiences of people can shape their perspectives as well.

Content: Researchers learned about the Stamp Act among other taxes England imposed upon the colonies following the conclusion of the French and Indian War.
