Thanksgiving Break
Good Afternoon,
Hope everyone has the chance to enjoy some time with family and friends this Thanksgiving break, and can just be in the moment because this time of year can also feel very stressful with so much going on. Talking with the students I know they are excited for the time off, but are ready to get re-energized for a big push before the New Year. Wish everyone safe travels for those traveling, and everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving break!
Week in Review:
Leader in Me: Our class talked about the importance of planning. Ask your child, "How can planning help you?"
Writing: Writers celebrated their personal essays they have completed by hanging them in the NDLC hallways in the writers gallery. They worked hard all unit to master the structure, and it was great to see their topics come to life with their reasons and evidence they worked hard on developing and strengthening.
Math: Mathematicians prepared themselves for the unit assessment, and started that assessment today. They will finish up the assessment after break, but I am very proud of their efforts and focus in this unit on multiplication because it felt challenging early, but they persevered to build their confidence when working on these concepts!
Reading: Readers have been learning new strategies in helping them develop strong themes in the books they are reading. Readers are working on leveling up their thinking work with an emphasis on flagging pages in their books where text evidence pops up that supports the ideas they have come up with in their books.
Content: Researchers explored the brain’s role in receiving information from the senses, processing that information, and controlling the muscles to enable movement.
A Look Ahead:
- No School November 23rd-25th
- Recorders are due back to school on Monday, November 28-Day 2 for their next belt testing day
