Successful Week in 4th Grade!
Good Afternoon,
I think we have officially reached Fall as the temperatures outside have been around the sweatshirt and jacket kind of weather. I'm excited about our upcoming feel trip to explore and hike the Ice Age trail as the students will be able to experience it in person is something I believe is special in their education. Students have been continuing to work on their WIGS (wildly important goals) to help continue to push themselves to do their best learning daily. Lastly, I want to thank everyone for making Storytelling and Coffee as tremendous success because the students seeing so many people as an "audience" for their stories really empowers them as writers, so thank you again for your willingness to come and join us.
Week in Review:
Leader in Me: Our class talked about the need to stop and think before responding. Ask your child, “Why is stop and think a powerful tool?”
Writing: Our storytelling and coffee event to kick off the week was an awesome success. Writers began then to draft their own realistic fiction stories which was much to their delight to add it great details, and really have more control of their writing to go beyond just a personal narrative.
Math: Students completed their unit 1 assessments this week, and we began unit 2 to end our week which focuses now on multiplication and division. I have began to grade the first few pages, and its been exciting to see the success by so many, and I will be sending those home for you to see your child's success on their first unit assessment in math.
Reading: Readers started into book clubs this week to help push their thinking of growing ideas about characters, and also determining themes in books in a book club setting. The volume of reading is increasing, and students have been pushing each other to reach their goals of character and theme work in their reading.
Content: Researchers are finishing up their research and discovery of Wisconsin's first people along with the inventions and traditions of some of Wisconsin's first people.
