First Full Week & Halfway through September?!

Good Afternoon,

This past week students worked extremely hard on their fall i-Ready tests along with continued goal setting in writing and reading. We are really wanting students this year to Be Proactive, and in charge of their learning being stakeholders of what they need to succeed. The process of goal setting will be happening all year, and I am excited to see how this process helps students grow both academically, but socially as advocates of their learning!

Week in Review:

Leader in Me: Leaders were learning about Habits 2 &3 this week. Habit 2 is Begin with the End in Mind which was perfect for us to align with our goal setting focus. Habit 3 we began to talk about on Thursday which focuses on Putting first things First. Habit 3 is about getting our work and tasks done first before we move on to other activities.

Writing: Writers took a huge step in their narrative writing journey this week. They were storytelling to bring the story they chose to bring through the writing process to life while also flash drafting today their seed idea. They went through a process to help them really identity the heart of their story, and beginning closer to that moment and stretching it out more in their writing.

Math: The mathematicians were working with place value up while also working on rounding and comparing numbers this week. The math talk and collaboration made for some exciting math times this past week!

Reading: Readers have been working hard on goal setting while also improving/sharpening skills and strategies to help them continue to grow. The volume of reading has continued to increase since the start of the year, and the thinking about reading has been taking steps in the right direction to help readers continue to grow as readers!

A Look Ahead:
